Joined the NFA

I just joined the NFA, I encourage  anyone reading to join and help support this organization. One that specifically helps fight   oppressive Canadian gun laws and stands up for Canadian gun owners.

They are largely responsible for  getting rid of the  gun registry a few years ago

Day at the Range

March 9th

DCIM101GOPROSandra and I went off to the Stittsville Range today. We had a great time, it was  cold but not that biting winter cold we have had as of late.  I can deal with -1 and above quite nicely. Today we brought the .22 win mag and the .223 X-Bolt. Did not do to bad, for  not having shot most of the winter. Sandra has improved hugely since her passing the PAL course and we see nothing but  more improvement going forward. I was able to test some of my loads and will be analyzing the results. That is the fun part of reloading, testing new loads. 🙂

looking forward to next week, and also to when the 200 yard  range opens….

Mosin Nagant 91/30 7.62 x 54, 1943 Russia

The Mosin Nagant 91/30  7.62 x 54, 1943 made in Russia was the next acquisition after the SKS. The nice thing about surplus military rifles is their availability and low cost. The ammo is surplus and corrosive but as long as you clean it and take care of it you can have a lot of fun. I was intrigued  with the Mosin after watching the movie ” Enemy at the Gate” the classic WWII sniper movie.

I picked up this one and , as with the SKS spent many hours cleaning it.

some of the parts and a comparison of the SKS to…

Quite the difference in the number of parts from a Bolt (Mosin) action to a semi auto .(SKS)
