Here I sit pondering my mornings activities….

Leadlead2bullet2242 Pipe to lead ingot
Lead ingot to lead Bullet
50 Cal Minnie Ball mold is 357 Gr that’s about 19 bullets a pound.
Lead pipe from the scrap yard ( cause I’m to lazy to hit garages and go through the extra bit of cleaning wheel weights, besides others beat me to them) anyway Lead pipe .75 cents a pound… now the math….
about 4 cents each… $3.95 a hundred rounds.
Last week I bought a box of 100 .490 round balls for $18.00 at the range
Hmmmmm lets see now .04 plus powder a shot or .18 a shot for round balls, Not to mention there was some 50 cal conical round that were similar to my Minnie balls at $25.00 for 15 rounds.

Just doing math today and liking my results on all levels. Oh it just might be time to head to the range with my flinty

Another day with the Flintlock

Arrived at the range today with the best of intentions of doing some old fashion flintlock shooting.   After yesterdays wicked weather I thought today would be better. It all started out ok, I looked out the window to see sun shining. Great I packed up loaded the truck and as I was leaving the door it started to hail. Sighs, Im going anyway!! I drove through hail that changed to rain and the day did not look to good but I am the mighty target shooter , not going to let a wee bit of rain stop me.

I arrived and went into the shop to sign in, as I was coming out a full fledged mini snow flurry was happening, ignoring that off I went figuring I would have the place to myself. Not so there are a lot of us that ignored the weather I had hoped to get a spot on the 50 yard range but it was full so off to the 25 for some flintlock fun

All in all I had a great time! I met Sanjay and his son and we had a great chat.

Exploading Targets

As I posted on the Activity Page the 200 yard range opened with a Bang, a place to add some excitement to the day, Exploding Targets. Now these are legal and can be used.

BUT….. The CFO has decided that they can now NOT be used at the range. Sighs I guess  on private property where there is no guidance is safer… Ya go figure.

Oh well.

Being a huge fan of SAFETY I can only abide by the rules as for the most part they make sense. In fact I do not think I have come across any safety rule that doesn’t make sense.
